Diwali (short for Deepawali) is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The word translates to "row of lights" from Sanskrit and celebrates the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. It is a celebration that lasts for a couple of days and includes fireworks, food, gifts, colored sand, and special clay lamps.

As a multicultural celebration, Diwali brings us the opportunity to learn more from other languages and cultures around the world.
